Hawley Haleblian of Exceed Floor & Home Places in National Design Contest

CRYSTAL LAKE — Metropolitan Home magazine has selected Hawley Haleblian, interior designer at Exceed Floor & Home as one of the winners of its 2008 Met Home Winners Contest.

The magazine that focuses on modern interior design recognized the artistic creativity of Exceed Floor & Home Senior Designer’s mosaic tile faux zebra rug and awarded her with an honorable mention. Her design stood out among hundreds of Met Home reader entries submitted from around the country and was labeled the “Most PETA-friendly Design Solution” by the judges.

Haleblian’s tile zebra “hide”, complete with tail, is made from leftover cartons of black and white ceramic tile found at Exceed Floor & Home. She smashed the tiles with a hammer, pieced them together into a striped coat and set them in adhesive on the floor. Porcelain, “pirate ship” plank tile was installed around the design to complete the look. The result is an absolute “wow” from customers when they walk in the door.

“Creating displays that inspire ideas and dare our customers to be ‘exceed’ingly different is a priority at Exceed,” stated Haleblian, who was also a winner of the 1995 Metropolitan Home magazine design competition and a 2008 Floor Focus magazine retail display contest. “No animal was killed or injured for my folly,” she joked.
